The Luxury Symposium 2017

After the enormous success of the last event, The Global Design and Innovation Forum 2016 as part of the Honorable Prime Minister’s initiative of the MAKE IN INDIA WEEK in Mumbai, The Luxury League, collaborated with Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts & Safaris, to create this trailblazing forum, The Luxury Symposium 2017, that pledges to promote India as a global producer of luxury on 7th April 2017 at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. It served as a platform to reimagine the connotations of luxury in an Indian context…in conversation with thought leaders and in conjunction.

The Luxury League commenced the programme with a protocol packed endorsement from Rashtrapati Bhavan by our Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, who met the delegates on the 6th April afternoon. France was the country partner of The Luxury Symposium 2017 & so the French Ambassador to India, Mr. Alexandre Ziegler, followed it up by a Cocktail Reception to facilitate the members & supporters of the Luxury League.

The event was well attended by prominent global personalities & officials who are involved in the initiative of Branding Indian Luxury globally, Sh. Ramesh Abhishek – Secretary DIPP, Sh. Amitabh Kant – CEO Niti Aayog, Sh. Kalraj Mishra – Hon’ble Minister of MSME, Sh. Pavan Varma, Rajiv Makhni to name a few. The Event was supported by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Textiles, Khadi India, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Indian Council for Cultural Relations & Amazon. NDTV was the media partner, Yes Bank was the Banking Partner & Digiqom, the Digital Partner for the event. The Hon. Commerce Minister of India, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated The Luxury Symposium 2017.

In her opening speech, confessed to being uncomfortable about word ‘luxury’ but also acknowledged that artisans are on dock and that luxury could be the promotional agency to support artisans. Amitabh Kant followed it up by saying that India digital strength will ensure that Indian luxury brands will grow exponentially. Seven sessions packed with meaningful dialogues on how to break the logjam of communication between the all-powerful government and the producers/promoters/communicators of luxury. The Luxury League founder, Ritu Beri says, “My desire is to strengthen the voice of India abroad & to open the Indian doors to the world by showcasing our artistic talent through creative interactions and dynamic networking. The idea is Branding Indian Luxury globally & creating an increased pool of knowledge and competence. Under the encompassing spectrum of ‘Luxury’s Newest Frontiers’, we had gathered a very distinguished set of panellists who over the course of the day fostered an open and ongoing exchange of ideas. The event was very well attended by global luminaries, decision makers, public intellectuals, pioneers of business excellence & key members of the Indian parliament
