There is much we do not know about Alzhiemers. This month is focused on raising awareness about this delibitating illness .
Alzheimer is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys brain cells – crippling memory, speech, thinking, planning and judgement skills, orientation, reading, writing and more.
Even though the statistics are staggering, information about this disorder is stretchy at best.
Smile Studio and Dr Ekta Chadha on 8th Sept hosted an informative event to celebrate the ongoing Alzheimer’s Month. This an attempt to spread information about care and prevention of this debilitating disorder.
The highlight of the event were the talks given by experts.
The key note speakers were:
DR. MANJARI TRIPATHI ,NEUROLOGIST , HEAD OF DEPTT AIIMS.
KAVITA DEVGAN , AUTHOR & NUTRITIONIST
DR. EKTA CHADHA, DENTAL SURGEON & SMILE DESIGNER AND CEO SMILE STUDIO
Dr. Manjari Tripathi spoke about the disease and early symptoms and prevention.
Kavita Devgan shared a day plan for incorporating interesting superfoods that can boost your memory.
Dr. Ekta Chadha spoke about how giving up brushing or lack of personal hygiene is the often missed out first sign of Alzheimers
Mrs Veena Sachdeva and Renu Vohra, volunteers for the Alzheimers society informed the audience about the importance of counselling the families of the patients.
During the event Dr Ekta shared that brain and its complexities is a very ignored topic but extremely close to her heart. “The idea is to reach out and create awareness, and stop taking about mental health as if it is a taboo,” she said.
TeaCupFuls, a Gurgaon based contemporary tea boutique, born out of generations of expertise and a real passion for great teas brewed healthy tea for the gathering.
Everyone went back wiser and more aware of this difficult disorder whose only cure is prevention.
